In the midst of all that’s going on in the world, it’s good to know that there’s a safe place out there for all of us. Specifically, here in Rhode Island, there has been an uprise of events that promote inclusivity for all women. The businesses that help women come together in Providence can redefine a woman’s freedom to care for themselves.

What’s been happening in PVD you say?

Well, women of all communities are coming together to support each other. This is being done through meetings held to discuss community engagement. Groups like We Are Sis and Master Your Glo are hosting meetups that allow women to enjoy games, music, and support.

Another up-and-coming event that takes place is Sister Circle once a month. This is a safe, spiritual place where women can come together to discuss self-care and vent about concerns, trauma, and societal perspectives that affect their lifestyles.

With the mass concern of the spread of COVID-19, there has been a lot of cancellations for upcoming events though. Many of them have still gone on, but others have postponed for safety reasons of course.

Here’s a list of inclusive groups you can follow to become more involved in supporting all women:

Sister Circle

This is a monthly event that is held to encourage all women to come together. Whether you are a trans woman, non-binary, or binary, you are welcome. The space was created to allow women to speak freely and vent. It is also a spiritual space that allows women to come together and speak freely about their beliefs.

Master Your Glo

This beauty and health organization was set up to create a safe space for women of color to master their own glow. MYG has hosted events that sustain happiness and comfort all in one place as well as promoting small, black-owned businesses. After all, the greatest come up in life is your own glow.

We Are Sis

A community organization that is another great place for women of color. We Are Sis provides community resources that aid in personal growth and development, alongside career advice that will help you grow professionally. They also advocate and provide support by engaging women of color to stand up in support of one another.

Sista Fire RI

An organization that helps women of color come together for political transformation and social change. These women stand in solidarity throughout their journey for justice and encourage other women to join them as well. They share a powerful bond that has created an impactful movement in shining light to the problems women of color face in Providence today.

House of Hope Youth

House of Hope CDC is an outreach organization that strives to end homelessness in RI. The organization is supportive of LGBTQ communities, including women, by providing resources like food and shelter when they can. Their workers strive to provide shelter and continuous support of resources.

Better Lives RI

Another organization that helps marginalized individuals defeat homelessness and hunger, Better Lives RI, supports women by providing intensive case management assistance to help access resources that are needed. If you’re having a difficult time, Better Lives RI can lend you a helping hand.

Beauty La Soul

This health and beauty organization is a platform that promotes body positivity. Run by one of the founders of MYG, this organization delivers inspiring messages and advice about self-care for women. Being body positive is hard for many women but this is a place that allows all women to be confident.

Valiant Arts

A brave and authentic organization that advocates and enforces creativity through dance, music, and drawing. Understanding the artist beyond their skills and acknowledging their presence in today’s society is part of the work they do. At Valiant Arts, you’re respected and acknowledged by others who share the same cultural awareness you do.

The Sipe Cookout

This media platform brings all the goodies to your IG feed. They discuss topics such as health, sex, and self-care for everyone. Sipe encourages women to be open about their health and sexual concerns as well as experiences. They are here to make us all feel comfortable discussing these topics, even with men.

Tender Yoni

Now, if you don’t know what your yoni is, there’s a great explanation from Tender Yoni themselves. They provide Yoni cleansing services for women. Their organization helps you learn about your sacred space and how to properly take care of yourself. As women, taking care of your private parts isn’t always discussed so it’s nice to have a place to go and ask questions.

Good Company RI

A nonprofit organization that allows the LGBTQ+ community to come together and network. IF you’re looking for professional development and business networks, this is a great place to meet others. They’re an inclusive organization that doesn’t discriminate and makes you feel safe enough to smile.

Open Door Health

I’d like to leave you all with ODHPVD. This place has helped so many women regardless of color, sexual orientation, or demographic background. Just like their name, their doors are open to make you feel safe and confident as well as cared for. It’s an excellent place to find a PCP and to be around health providers that make you feel heard.
